Man Cave Ideas
There are so many man cave ideas to filter through that you have to be able to find something that suits your personality and is exclusive to you. The key to any man cave is to make it unique and meaningful. You’re building your ultimate sanctuary. Your fortress of solitude.
Man Cave Definition: a room or space (as in a basement) designed according to the tase of the man of the house to be used as his personal area for hobbies and leisure activities. (Merriam-Webster)
Most women would not be caught dead allowing their men to decorate their house. That is why having a man cave is a great idea. Man cave decor is something that stays in the man cave. The rest of the house can be filled with butterflies and flowers (or if you have 3 daughters, like me, it can be unicorns, mermaids, and Disney princesses) but the idea for the man cave is to give you your own space, designed to your specifications, giving you ultimate comfort in your own little slice of the house to yourself.
Man caves are the goal of most men. And having the perfect man cave setup can, and will, make your spot the source of envy amongst your friends.
I’ve listed some of the most common man cave ideas below. To read more about them, click the link in the content
Basement Man Cave Ideas
The basement man cave is probably one of the most common types of man cave there is. Most women and children have a natural fear of the basement. I blame Home Alone…
But the basement is such a natural hideaway in the house for any man cave that it is the perfect spot to create your man cave. It offers natural seclusion from the outside forces of estrogen. Another giant benefit is space. Most basements have an abundance of space to utilize unless you have been convinced by those outside forces to use the basement for storage and your basement looks like an episode of Hoarders.
Man Cave Ideas for a Small Room
Sometimes you have to work with what you got (I know a lot of you guys have heard that before). But when specifically talking about man caves, not all guys have the opportunity or luxury of having a huge basement that they are allowed to do whatever they want with. Sometimes you have to get creative with a smaller space.
The key to using a small space for a man cave is to prioritize your needs. You may have to forego the pool table or the theater seating for your mini man cave. You want to make sure you have the essentials that will still give you that stronghold in the house that you desperately need.
Don’t worry. There are plenty of options. Check out the small man cave ideas here.
Man Cave Ideas for Shed
Sometimes you want to get away and then sometimes you REALLY want to get away from it all. In these cases, perhaps an outside man cave might be the right idea for you. Outside man caves amount to the ultimate getaway. When you actually have to walk outside to get to your man cave, you know you are truly in a fortress of solitude.
But not all outside man caves have to be in a shed. Sometimes a porch and outdoor kitchen are the perfect settings to inspire the ultimate outdoor man cave. While a shed has the comfort of knowing you have the protection of 4 walls, surrounding you in all your manliness, and outdoor man cave can really be anything. You might as well throw in a putting green while you’re at it!

Sports Man Cave Ideas
When it comes to man caves, the ultimate Holy Grail has to be the sports man cave. Most men who are in need of a man cave are also very big sports fans. It kind of goes hand in hand. The true need for a man cave oftentimes comes from the fact that guys can’t watch their sports in peace on the TV in the family room. And while it is frowned upon to seclude yourself in your bedroom while watching the playoffs on your TV (I speak from experience), the man cave is the perfect solution.
There are so many options when it comes to a sports themed man cave. The possibilities are endless. Just think of your man cave packed with your buddies for the big game. The sports man cave is the reason I started looking into having a man cave myself. I needed a place where I could watch the game without the eye roll or the “You’re watching football again?” during week 3 of the NFL season.

DIY Man Cave Ideas
Some men are extremely handy. While some men pretend to be. And then there are some (present company included) that celebrate the successful light bulb change like they just won the Super Bowl.
For the DIY men, building your own man cave might be the best way to go. If done right, you could save a lot, and there’s something about building something with your own hands that makes it a little more personal….not that I would have the foggiest idea about that….but I’ve heard things.

Garage Man Cave Ideas
Some men are forced into the garage when they want to have a man cave. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There is something natural about men being in a garage…again, not that I would know anything about it. It is actually a very popular choice for man caves.
The key to having a garage man cave is to convince your significant other that the space is better suited for your man cave than the family minivan. This can be a very daunting task, but rest assured, once you bring up the fact that your game is going to coincide with the 47th season of Grey’s Anatomy, you should be well on your way to transforming that garage into the dream man cave you always wanted.

Cheap Man Cave Ideas
While we are on the subject of convincing, there are plenty more obstacles that you are going to have to overcome when you are planning out your man cave. One of the biggest hurdles you are going to inevitably run into is the budget. It is going to take more skill convincing her that you need to spend the money on your man cave than it did to goad her into marrying you in the first place. You know that the brand new $500 duvet cover or the fine china set that you’ll use once a year is far more important than your silly pool table in your stupid little room.
This is where you have to get a little crafty. You might have to budget things a little better. Much like the small room man cave ideas, you may have to prioritize what you want in your man cave. You may not be able to get the commercial popcorn machine right off the bat.
But there are plenty of ways to go about having a man cave on a budget. Take a look at our budget man cave ideas here.
Gaming Man Cave Ideas
Gaming man caves are also amongst the most popular type of man caves there are. Video games are some of the best methods of relaxation there is. They are a natural fit for man caves.
Look, I grew up during a time when video games were just coming out. I still remember playing RC Pro-Am until my fingers were numb. And if you don’t understand what UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, SELECT, START means then I’m not sure this is the right site for you!
My ultimate dream is to have dual big screens in my man cave. One for my video games and one for the game. Best of both worlds in my opinion.
